A basic amount of photoshop is used for headshots. Too often companies talk about using photoshop in a natural way but it takes a delicate hand and an appreciation of restraint to actually get a natural look. Too much is never a good idea because your photograph needs to look like you. After all, there should never be a big surprise or disconnect for someone who meets you after only having seen you in a headshot previously. Don’t forgot that people are savvy enough to recognise bad photoshop, over the top retouching and skin softening. Don’t accept it. We use refined techniques, not heavy handed filters, to achieve a natural and unaffected image.
What to wear
Please bring at least 5 different clothing choices. For corporate headshots, you need to concentrate more your top half, but don’t neglect your bottom half. Do remember, if you’re not comfortable wearing it, then it won’t photograph well. Instead, bring your favourite outfits.
We are always asked what colours work best. It’s different for everyone, so we do suggest bringing a wide variety of colours. Throw in a bit of everything; but stay away from clashing colours and bright stripes.
Remember, if you don’t bring it we can’t photograph you in it. If in doubt, bring it!
